Hi my name is Mik Henzell welcome to my web place.
Here you will find photos and news showing the month to month unfolding of the dream and vision GOD has given me. This is to build an Orphanage for the forgotten children of Bolivia.

July - AugustNews

Hello all,

Cant believe it has been eight weeks since my last news letter, so much has happened, although it does seem like all we have done is celebrate birthdays. These are the people and kids that have turned one year older for the months of July and August. Brian, Luis, Waldo, Yohani, Fernando, Mariano, Kay and Ruddy, happy birthday to you all. As always you can see a photo of them celebrating that very special moment blowing out the candles of one of Kay’s yummy home made cakes.

Also we have been through our coldest time of the year (end of July) where the temp drops to around 15 instead of our usual 35 degree days. It only lasts for around three to five days each year and we all freeze, you can see a few pics of us all eating an early dinner around a warm camp fire. Seems weird but five days later temps are back up to 35-40 which is also normal for August, so now we are sweating it out as we always do in the great tropical climate of the Amazon Jungle.

August is also the mid year for school and in tradition all the kids have a special day where they celebrate with acts and traditional dances that celebrate August 6, independence day for Bolivia. So in the photos are the kids dancing, marching and a group shot of all the kids that attended that day. Our school has grown so much we now have 51 students enrolled at Casa Segura but I don’t think we have ever had them all turn up at once. It is a very common bad habit the kids have here in the country part of Bolivia only coming to school a few days a week as usually their parents have them home working and doing other stuff. Not so for our kids, they are a captive crowd and have to go every day one of the good things having the school right on their doorstep.

We also had the kids vaccinated against yellow fever this month which is very important around this part of Bolivia. So many mozzie related diseases, malaria been the worst. This year has been the worst outbreak of malaria since we have been here already in six months we have had over 20 cases on our property alone. In July and August alone Ruddy, Ariel, Loida, Luis and Guillermo have had it once and Mariano and Nataniel have had it twice. That is just our lot, between the staff and families that live here there were allot more. Please pray for us in that area as it is a horrible thing for a young child, let alone anyone to get.

I think by now most of you would of heard we lost our School/Clinic, one of the animal shelters and one of the well houses in a fire. It was a tragic day for us all especially for the kids as we all sat by helpless and watched it literally burn to the ground in minutes. All the kids were such a help running around getting buckets of water stopping the fire spreading further into the project. The day after was pretty grim as we all went through the remains trying to salvage what we could. The only thing that half survived was six pair of scissors, literally everything was lost. Water and power was also lost for a few days, but all up and running again. As always things that end in tragedy are always turned around into something good by GOD and what has come after is proving to be just another testimony on how our GOD can do miracles. We are 75% done building the new school into the Church building that already existed, so at the end of this month we should have a school that is bigger and better than the classroom we had in the clinic. Also we will use the original school building for the new clinic, that on the other hand is awhile off finished as there is quite a lot we have to replace. At least in a week or two we will have the basics and a bed or two to start treating patients again.

So that’s pretty mush all the news for now, all is fantastic here and things are going full steam ahead again (Glory to GOD). I want to thank all the people who helped out by donating finance, supplies, and of corse all the prayers that were definitely heard by GOD.

Thank you all so much. Next month I will post photos of all that has been rebuilt and replaced for all to see.

Mik.
